First West of England Launch New University of Bath Service

New Service U1 launched on Saturday 19th September (replacing Service 18) and operates 24 hours a day seven days a week*.

During the main part of the day the U1 operates every seven minutes* and, for the first time, at peak times double deck buses will operate between the City Centre and University of Bath providing a U1 every three – four minutes.*

All the buses on the new U1 have been painted in a distinctive purple colour complete with a new Bath Uni Bus identity. The smart new look will help students easily distinguish which bus is theirs.  

Bendy buses will continue to operate Service U1 from Lower Oldfield Park to The University of Bath while double deck buses run between Corn Street and The University of Bath via Bath Abbey at peak times, adding more than 700 extra seats between the University Campus and the City Centre.

Andrew Sherrington, General Manager for Bath said: “Our new U1 Service is a big improvement for students and staff at University of Bath. Extra double deckers will add more than 700 seats to the route at peak times, this will allow more people to have a seat on their journey rather than being forced to stand.”

He continued: “Both the double deck buses and the bendy buses have been given a really smart new look and their own identity so that it is easy to spot which services go to the university. The new Service will also run 24 hours a day* making it easier than ever for students to explore everything that Bath has to offer knowing they can jump on a U1 anytime day or night to get home”

As a further advantage Bath Uni Bus Uni Year Ticket includes free travel on First bus Services between Bristol & Bath including the Express Service X39, the 38 & 39 offering a 12 minute frequency to and from Bath until 2am**
