REVIEW: Cappadocia's Lunchtime Menu
We asked our Total Guide to Bath Blogger @SarahfromBath to review the lunchtime menu at the family run Turkish restaurant Cappadocia and give owner Tunc and the team some love and support re-opening after lockdown (as we have done city-wide to all types of businesses). She was there in a flash!
Having been to Turkey for our family holiday these past few years we have become fans of this beautiful country and its wonderful cuisine. Think flatbreads, olives, fresh vegetables and salads, meat kebabs, sweet breads and light desserts. OH! And definitely google Turkish beaches too…
So, when the Turkish restaurant and bar Cappadocia arrived on Newmarket Row in 2019 in the centre of Bath it wasn’t long before we had booked a table for dinner. Friendly welcome, stylish interiors, with a mouth-watering and fresh offering. It was fabulous. But it gets better….this Mediterranean over looks one of Bath’s most famous views, The Pulteney Bridge, making it both a romantic, historic and Instagram perfect restaurant to visit by day, or night.
I was interested to try out their lunch menu and asked a girlfriend to join me…let’s face it, we have all been apart for so long and there was so much to chat about!
All the Team at Total Guide to Bath are delighted to share the news that Cappadocia is back up and open, better than ever and Covid compliant. There are separate entrances and exits, hand sanitiser stations and screens between tables that actually made our dining experiences seem quite cosy, in fact, all the extra additions hadn’t detracted from the boutique and chic feel that I remembered from my visit in 2019. So well done to Tunc and his team.
Just as importantly, the delicious menu made it almost impossible to choose but Tunc was on hand to guide us through. I chose Lamb Kofta’s on skewers and my friend a chicken salad. Turkish meals start with flatbreads, dips and pickles and spiced vegetables which I love because it means there is always something to nibble on whilst you wait.
We didn’t wait long! Our main course was hyper fresh and absolutely scrumptious. I mean there was one moment when I drifted off from the conversation (sorry mate) and thought I was in The Med! Light lunches, warming spiced meat, fluffy rice, crunchy salads, just a cold beer missing but maybe next time. The ice-cool sparkling water was super refreshing enough!
In order to report back on a full Cappadocia experience, I thought it only right that I try a dessert…I mean I needed the full experience, right? Tunc suggested the Panna Cotta topped with a strawberry jam with a dusting of pistachio’s. My friend tried the Apple Crumble….both looked amazing and did not disappoint. Light, sweet and the perfect consistency for a girls lunch….which still allowed for plenty of chatting between mouthfuls!
Cappadocia has a wonderfully colourful interior throughout and yet very comfortable with plenty to notice and chat about too. Take a trip upstairs to their private dining area (available to hire at no extra cost and might suit a larger family group or bubble) to be wowed the sexy styling. Your Instagram grid will thank you.
Me and my friend both thought the food was delicious, the service super quick, which is often important for lunch dates/working lunches and the menu was very reasonably priced, especially given the setting. We both agreed to meet here again. Date to be decided.
Thanks to Tunc and his family and team for such a lovely experience and we all wish you well post covid. See you again very soon!
If you are interested in booking a table, they are open daily until 11pm. Booking is required for Covid compliance so please call 01225 461946 or email email@example.com. You can also order from Deliveroo as well.
