Bath Digital Festival 2017 Highlights the Best of Bath and the South West!

Bath Digital Festival – a 6-day celebration of all things tech in the city of Bath – is returning on 17-22 October and this year’s theme aims to be more inclusive than ever: ‘Tech for Everyone’. We want to recognise and celebrate the diverse talent here in the South West, and with almost fifty events packed into less than a week, it’s impossible to ignore the drive towards digital.

Bath itself is a real hub for digital and technology innovation, with pioneering centres at The Guild and Bath Science Park. Despite the historic beauty of the area, the heritage isn’t holding anyone back, and many are coming from across the country – and even further afield – to explore the digital richness of our city.

Commenting on this year’s theme, festival co-organiser Jim Morrison explains: “We’re committed to digital inclusion and innovation. As technologies change and advance, everyone is impacted. So it’s extremely important to us that this is reflected in the content and line-up of Bath Digital Festival in 2017.”

Each of the six days has a topic, from Digital Creativity to Digital Working, Digital Intelligence to Digital for Good. Those flocking to the Bath Digital Festival can enjoy a Digital Art Show, interactive comedy, a digital tour of Bath itself, Google seminars, an exploration of AI, eco-digital activism, and so much more. Venues around Bath from Apex Hotel to Bath College are opening up their doors to welcome in new people and new ideas, providing a welcome injection into the area after the summer slowdown.

Now in its fifth year, the festival has expanded within the huge growth of technology and innovation in Bath and the greater South West region, with previous events showcasing everything from industry-leading speakers to interactive workshops and hackathons.

The festival’s founding principle is to showcase the amazing people and projects that are going on in and around Bath. Dave Kelly, Founder of Bath Digital Festival, adds: “We’d like to think that at a local level, it provides inspiration to those working in, or hoping to work in, the digital and tech space. On a national level, we hope it’ll continue to promote the radical, creative, and inventive people and projects that exist in our beautiful city.”
