JESSIE MAY ANNOUNCES RETURN OF CASTLE COMBE STEAM RALLY

The charity beneficiary of the annual Castle Combe Steam & Vintage Rally has announced the popular event’s return, which will take place this year on 19 and 20 May.

Jessie May, a children’s hospice at home charity, which supports terminally ill children in Wiltshire said this year the event will be bigger and better than ever.

Now in its 33rd year the Castle Combe Steam Rally attracts crowds of thousands, with people coming from across the South West to enjoy a weekend of vintage steam engines and vehicles as well as much more.

Fairground rides and attractions will keep the children entertained while live arena events including the Tigers Children Motorcycle Display Team, terrier racing, and a calf show will provide live spectacles.

The Hullavington Model Aircraft Club will be putting on a display and Ken Fox and his Hell Riders will be returning for 2018 to take on the Wall of Death.

Jessie May head of fundraising, Julian Withers, said: “The Steam Rally is one of the highlights of the calendar for us at Jessie May and for many families across Wiltshire who look forward to a fun and often educational day out.

“We’re looking forward to the usual popular displays and exhibits as well as craft stalls, jumble sales, trade stands, fairground rides and refreshments to entertain the whole family. There is also free car parking on site.

“We’re delighted to have been selected as the chosen charity for the event for the fourth year running. Events like this are vital in helping to fund our work, which is increasingly expanding into Wiltshire.

“We currently have 37 local Wiltshire families on our caseload. We’re hoping to be able to help many more families in the future and begin to raise awareness of the work we do in Swindon and Wiltshire.

“A huge part of what we do at Jessie May is helping families to enjoy special days out and moments during the, often too short, time they have together. We hope to see lots of our families at the Steam Rally, creating memories and experiences.

“Our Jessie May nurses are a lifeline to parents and siblings as well as children who are going through a very tough time and need complex emotional and medical support from professionals.”

The Steam Rally is held at the Castle Combe Race Circuit and is open from 10am-6pm on Saturday 19 May and 10am-5pm on Sunday 20 May. Tickets can be purchased on the day with adult tickets costing £8 (for one day), OAPs £6 and children under 14 going free.
