Coronavirus Community Support in Bath

Bath citizens are working creatively and collaboratively across the city to support communities and the more vulnerable people within it, who like us, are backing bath.

Here’s the Total Guide to Bath round-up of what we’ve spotted on social media so far this week.

3SG, who are a membership network for the charitable sector in BANES, are leading the way with their joined-up approach. They are linked with other charities and have concentrated on mapping what offers of help people have made and created hubs and ‘street champions’. Find them on social media @banes3SG

Food Cycle Bath are a charity that offer a nutritious meal from supermarket surplus once a week for anyone lonely or hungry with a mission ‘to unite and nourish our local community using surplus food’. They have had to move to take-away only of course but are still able to provide this service for growing number of Bathonian’s who need them. They still need weekly volunteers to prepare and distribute food, find them on twitter or Instagram @foodcyclebath

Covid Sympton Tracker is a new app launched with researchers from Guys & St. Thomas’s and Kings College London designed to help slow the spread of Covid-19 by self-reporting symptoms daily, even if you feel well. Everyone is being asked to share this to collect data to expose hidden cases. More at covid.joinzoe.com

Facebook groups are forming, pooling efforts that you may like to join as a way to volunteer or seek help if you need it. Check out Bath Mutual Aid and Bath Coronavirus People Help and Volunteers alongside other localised efforts. We think it’s proving a great way to connect.

Cancer support group, We Get It have a closed Facebook group and Whatsapp group to support its members, all of whom have been touched by cancer and might now be self-isolating and feel lonely without support of fellow cancer sufferers. Find them at wegetit.org.uk

Local radio, BA1 Radio have a rolled out their programmes to include more weekday programming, including our very own Total Guide to Bath Blogger Sarah Baker who hosts a twice daily show The Daily Good sharing all the good news from Bath.

Thoughtful Bakery have launched a Care Package Fund for NHS staff to create meals at approximately £5 a time. They have already raised over £1000 meaning that over 200 meals are already supporting our brilliant NHS staff.

Likewise, Eveleigh’s Café have an NHS Staff Care package providing healthy snacks from money raised by the citizens of Bath.

If you spot any more, we’d love to hear from you below.
