Bath's Best Christmas Activities 2019

We all know that Bath is brilliant the year around, with a packed-out events calendar, attractions renowned the world over and with venue’s bar’s and eateries ready to tease and welcome you with award-winning offerings. But Christmas is a very special here in our UNSECO heritage designated city.

But what is on the must-see Christmas checklist?

1. Can you even say you’ve been to Bath if you haven’t experienced a mulled wine at the Abbey Hotel Apres-Ski Bar, if you’ve ever been skiing you’ll totally get the vibe, if you haven’t then go anyway; grab a mulled cider, and don’t forget your lumberjack shirt! There’s hot chocs daytime for the kids too.

2. Grab a selfie at the most instagrammable place in Bath right now at the Christmas Tavern at The Bird Bath. We heard a rumour that this Bavarian inspired bar has over 5000 baubles on their ceiling. Prepare to be vowed!

3. Get your skates on at Bath On Ice. You don’t have to be a Torvill or a Dean to enjoy this Christmassy event. Find Bath on Ice at the city entrance to Royal Victoria Park which is perfect for all of the family as there are sleigh skate aids if required (book in advance recommended). There is plenty of food and drink too with wood fired pizzas and a fully licensed bar.

4. Visit the one of the top five most instagrammed markets before it ends on 15th December. Bath Christmas Market is here and is fully stocked and buzzing with shoppers delighting in a curated list of artisans and makers from near and far.

5. Longleat Festival of Light. For a short drive out of Bath, there is a magical Christmas showcase on the Longleat Estate that has grown in popularity over the years. The Festival of Light is back for 2019 with a Myths & Legends theme and promises much fun and festive magic. We’ve seen the pictures, it looks amazing!

6. Westonbirt Arboretum is always a special place during the day but at this time of year when dark it is full of colour with its beautiful Enchanted Christmas illumination trail; this is another festive feel-good trip for all the family.
