Bathscape Walking Festival is back for another year

Back for its second year, the Bathscape Walking Festival is now taking bookings. We aim to encourage people to explore the fantastic countryside surrounding Bath.

Lucy Bartlett, Community & Access Officer at Bathscape said: “Whether you want to walk longer distances enjoying stunning views across the city, explore the nature in your area, find out more about local heritage or just meet people and get some fresh air, there’s a walk for you”.

The Bathscape walks are free and led by fantastic walk leaders, supported by friendly volunteers and start at locations across the city. Some walks from 2017 are back, by popular demand, and we have new routes to try too – we’ve got bat walks, or you can find out about the natural history of Solsbury Hill, or take a tour of Beckford’s Lansdown. The first weekend features the Somer Valley Walking Festival, for those wanting something further afield.

The grand finale is the Julian House charity annual sponsored walk The Circuit of Bath Walk on Sunday 23rd September. Looking to better last year’s record breaking fundraising effort, people can enrol now for this 20 mile challenge and start fundraising.

Cathy Adcock from Julian House said: “We are very grateful to all those walkers who enjoy the most spectacular views of Bath whilst raising vital funds to help the city’s homeless. We would also like to thank our sponsors Thermae Bath Spa”.

Peter Rollins, Marketing and Communications Director at Thermae Bath Spa, one of our key sponsors, said: “We are really pleased to be supporting the Bathscape Walking Festival and Julian House’s Circuit of Bath. Building upon last year’s success, the teams at Bathscape and Julian House are doing a great job in putting together a diverse programme of special interest and long distance walks in and around this beautiful city. The health benefits of walking are well known, and this natural affiliation between walking, spa and wellness lends itself well to our ongoing partnership with the Walking Festival”.
