Your Total Guide To lifestyle

New Year, Fresh Ideas

We are all creatures of habits and for many of us December sees us taking a sneaky peek in to the new year and thoughts turn to making changes. For many the start to a new year is the chance to open a new chapter, dust off the old and start on over again!

So, here at Total Guide to Bath we have taken a look at what are some of the most common New Year’s resolutions are and how best to make them a reality. And with these Bath based experts, you should have a pretty good chance of sticking to them.

1. If a better level of fitness is your 2019 goal then think about adding a half marathon teeshirt or medal to your collection. Or is it the year to start your collection? Imagine a finishing straight of Great Pulteney Street, an iconic Georgian promenade after 13.1 miles of adrenalin fuelled crowd cheering miles. If you’ve ever secretly thought ‘Id like to see if I could achieve a half marathon’ then Bath is perfect. What better a city to celebrate in afterwards too?!

2. Or if running isn’t your thing why not choose to train and swim a mile! Better by BANES at the newly refurbished Bath Sports & Leisure Centre can help with all of the above and more. Get ready for that wedding! Meet new people. Take up Zumba. Whatever your gym motivation is, then take a look around the swanky new Better by BANES for some inspiration. (Psst and might we suggest fresh new workout kit from Boudivda?)

3. Maybe you’re already a runner. In that case spice up your events with some mud! Obstacle Course racing DB Max Events style offer obstacle course races, duathlon and triathlons of varying distances. There is something for every (adrenalin) one. Go and have a look if you think you’re hard enough.

4. Still with fitness in mind and if you’re looking for a new setting for your exercise programmes, then moonwalk this way because we bring news of a brand-new fitness class in Bath. Take a look at the new spin classes programme at Walcot House! That’s right, all the hard work of your spin class with all the drama, lights and music of your favourite club…

5. Enough already some say! Ok, if slowly is more your style we’ve some ideas for you too. Learn to upholster furniture, take a screen-printing workshop, learn dressmaking skills, Just 3 of the offerings from crafting exerts The Makery. And here’s a few more ideas for would be arts and crafters or artisan’s that may well signal a whole new you, or a whole new career: book a baking or cooking lesson at Bertinet Cookery School, take a cocktail making class at Sub 13.

6. Learn a language. If you’ve been promising to get fluent then why not make 2019 the year. There are plenty of informal language groups across Bath that dovetail an evening out with conversational European languages suitable for all. Check out @thefrenchfactor who hold weekly adult lessons as well as Saturday morning classes at Komedia for the kids. They then come home and teach you! It’s a family affair.

7. Join a new community. Grow/start that business at The HUB XV. The team behind Hub XV not only offer shared working facilities they offer an environment for you to co-work, network and find mentors for your business, be you established, fledgling or grounded. Based at the Bath Racecourse there are added benefits of no parking charges and ready to use meeting spaces.

8. And if you wanted to go even slower with mindful days of self-care very much on your must do list next year, then take those spa days! There are no excuses being in and around Bath to grab a slice of relaxation heaven. Choose the Thermae Spa for all types of water therapy and

treatments. Equally try The Royal Crescent for spa tranquillity and a post spa break champagne tea. Because you’re worth it.

9. DO THE ADMIN! Save money, invest in that business idea, write that will. With offices across the south west England, in Bath Bristol and Swindon, Thrings Solicitors are trusted, experienced and with experts in most areas of law. Whilst this isn’t the sexiest of new years wishes it might just be the wisest.

10. And finally! Tired of the same old same old? The boss needs the boot? We know many of you might also be needing, dreaming, switching employers, taking the next step in your career or even leaping in to a new industry. Not for the faint-hearted so using employment experts to hold your hand makes for great tactics. Centrally based Juice Recruitment
