TOTAL GUIDE TO SELF-ISOLATING FOR THE ELDERLY: LIFE UNDER LOCKDOWN Week 5

Well, another week has gone by and I hope you all managed to have a good Easter and enjoyed the glorious weather. From my front windows I can see so many of my neighbour's gorgeous blossoms in bloom and I don't think it will be too long before our roses and delphiniums make a welcome appearance. Hubby ordered some flowering plants earlier in the year and we are not sure whether we will receive them but, fortunately, as a tree present at Christmas I bought him some 'bee bombs' which are special flower seeds to plant to encourage our friends the bees and he planted them on Easter Sunday. I obviously laid on a sun lounger drinking tea and instructing him where to sow them!

Liz (my daughter and Founder of Total Guide to) paid a visit to me last Saturday to pick up a paddling pool for Florence and her Easter egg. She also delivered us some eggs and some beers for hubby from my son Duncan. We also had a lovely little chat through the window and I was amazed to see how baby bump is growing; I so hope the lockdown is over by the time baby arrives in August so we can have a cuddle. It was brilliant to see videos and photos on Easter Sunday of little Florence in the paddling pool and also enjoying the Easter Egg Hunt that Liz and Ross had made for her in their garden.

BBC Radio Wiltshire contacted Liz for an interview and on Easter Monday we enjoyed listening to it on their Breakfast Show. She was asked to make three choices for Lockdown - a song, a book and a meal. She chose Queen singing The Show Must Go On, the book choice was To Kill a Mocking Bird and her meal was fish pie. What would your choice be? Mine would be the Dionne Warwick's version of That's What Friends Are For. My book choice would be Stephen Fry's The Star's Tennis Balls; I read it some years ago and it really is a great 'unputdownable' psychological thriller.  My meal would be the one we had on Easter Sunday which was roast sirloin of beef (thanks to our local Hinton Marsh Farm) and all the trimmings!

Enjoying some good television at the moment and am especially hooked on The Nest. Can't wait for tonight's denouement and apart from the suspense the scenery is stunning. Talking about stunning scenery, I am also watching BBC4`s Nordic Noir thriller Twins on Saturday nights set in the Norwegian Fjords.

Hubby and I are now participating in Mr. Motivator's Lockdown Workouts. I don't know how many of you remember him but he doesn't look any different now!

Bad hair days have arrived!  My grey roots are showing and at the weekend I managed to get my hair into a tiny pony tail for the first time in about 30 years as I vowed never to let it grow long again. Hubby refuses to let me have a go at his as he is going for the hippy look!

Take care and stay safe.

Love Patricia Ledger
