Over recent years Bath Boutique Stays, headed up by Marcus Whittington have developed a niche business rescuing neglected properties located on some of Bath’s most prestigious streets and restoring them to former glory. The property portfolio has grown organically from the income generated by successfully marketing the restored properties as luxurious short let apartments.

When Marcus first found 30 the Circus he knew that this was the property that would be pivotal in changing that business model.

Located on the very top floor, 30 the Circus is the end house and the apartment affords outstanding views over the city from three perspectives. Although in a very poor state of repair and having been left empty for a year, Marcus identified the potential of this hidden gem.

The restoration project undertaken by Marcus and a team of local tradesmen and skilled craftsmen has taken only 4 months but 10,000 hours of dedicated workmanship. The apartment was reconfigured so that the kitchen unfolds out onto a small balcony with breath taking views over Bath and beyond. The new bathroom is luxurious and the sitting room/dining room has double aspect views to absorb the city from two angles. On a practical level the property has been re-wired, a new heating system installed and the traditional features restored.

Our most recent project is a grade 1 listed building in the Kings Circus, in need of full renovation, the property has breath-taking views from the south- facing balcony. An absolutely stunning penthouse, restoring it is a labour of love.

To fund the growth of the business we promote the finished properties as stylish locations for visitors to the city to enjoy self -catering accommodation with a home from home ambience. The success of this side of the business determines the pace of growth for the properties, over 4 years we have grown to five Bath properties.

Bath is a great city for female visitors, compact, safe and with a strong retail and cultural offering and we now actively target this demographic with a bespoke packages.

Our properties have great appeal for “girly celebrations” in general and these are a core part of our business but we are anxious not to be one-dimensional and also look to attract a broader spectrum of guests.

The portfolio of properties we have appeals to groups looking for a venue for family celebrations and we have adapted our offering to ensure we are child friendly and flexible.

Corporate groups are also attracted to our properties when booking incentive breaks or visiting Bath Rugby, location and the convenience and informality of our properties appeals to this sector.
