Women's Spring/Summer Jewellery Trends '14

Jewellery can make or break an outfit, so it's super important to get it right this Spring/Summer. Fashion supremo Lucy Flay lends her expertise to share her favourite jewellery trends of the coming season.

With the dull days of winter almost behind us, it's time to start thinking about replacing our chunky knit scarves and fur headbands with vibrant necklaces and statement earrings.

To give you a helping hand, I’ve picked some of my favourite looks from the SS14 catwalks…

Floral Fantasia

In the words of Sandi Thom ‘I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair’. From fluorescent cuffs to vibrant necklaces, spring is set to see a floral explosion. Follow in the footsteps of forest fairy Pixie Lott for a super sweet yet sophisticated look. Pixie is great at combining wardrobe staples like a simple black playsuit with lively floral accessories. Lead by her example and embrace flower power for yourself by livening up a messy bun with a pair of ornate earrings or embellishing your fingers with dainty, floral rings. Remember, a neutral base will allow you to get more creative with your choice of accessories, so don’t be afraid to take your look to the next level.

Topshop Necklace £30.00 | Oasis Earrings £14.00 | Miss Selfridge Cuff £35.00

Pandora Ring £65.00 | Oasis Necklace £25.00 | Lipsy at Next Earrings £18.00

Bohemian Chic

With thoughts of festival season getting us through the drab days, it’ll soon be time to don the dry shampoo, dig out our Daisy Dukes and get ready to dance the summer away in our wellies. But if you can’t wait ‘til then, spring is expected to see an early boom in boho glam ala Vanessa Hudgens, who’s often seen floating around Melrose like a total bohemian Goddess. Think flowing maxis and oversized earrings for an effortless take on this classic look. Try it yourself by teaming fringed tops and flowing dresses with overstated necklaces and chunky bangles to add a touch of glamour to your everyday look.

Let’s face it girls, black is never going out of fashion. Stripping your wardrobe back to basics with monochrome shades is an effortless way to add a touch of class to your everyday look. If you're in need of some style inspiration, no one does it better than Victoria Beckham. Posh is my ultimate style crush when it comes to wearing black and white, somehow she manages to transform basic colours from drastically drab to seriously chic. The key to perfecting this trend is to keep it simple. Teaming a pearly white blouse with a pair of oversized earrings and a chunky necklace (both black of course) will never fail.
