Bath City, recently took over by the Big Bath City Bid, held a community day on Saturday as a celebration of the occasion that saw pre-match fun as well as a 'pay what you want' scheme to get people through the turnstiles of Twerton Park, with 1108 people doing just that.
The match itself was too close to call, despite Broom, who signed on-loan from Bristol Rovers during the week, scoring with his first touch for his new club - a well-excecuted diving header past the Eastbourne keeper after just two minutes.
Eastbourne hit back immediately, however through Elliot Romain's goal with seven minutes played.
Romain seized on a defensive mix-up with Jack Batten and goalkeeper Max O'Leary to level the scores.
The frantic opening was the best it got however, as the sides could not be separated.
