Your Total Guide To sport

Sporting Events You Should Not Miss this Coming Spring

The entire year of 2022 is filled with major sporting events, especially since the FIFA World Cup 2022 is due to be held later (Nov 21st – 18th Dec) in the year. However, we will focus on the months from March to June in this post. As the ice begins to thaw and the mercury rises higher, clear your schedule for the spring sports events that you just can’t afford to miss.

2022 Cheltenham Festival (Mid-March)

The Cheltenham Racecourse doesn’t have a dress code per se, but they always instruct their guests to dress with the weather in mind. It isn’t exactly a warning for no good reason either, as the weather can be quite tricky in Gloucestershire in mid-March, right at the beginning of the British spring. Scheduled from 15th to 18th of March in 2022, the prestigious National Hunt event is going to be big this year as it will also mark Queen Elizabeth’s 70th year on the throne.

Check GG to find the ante-post betting odds and tips for the Cheltenham Festival races, including the Queen Mother Champion Chase and, of course, the Cheltenham Gold Cup. The Queen is a Hall of Famer for her lifelong patronage and support towards the British horseracing community, so expect the Queen Mother Champion Chase to be exceptional this year at Cheltenham.

2022 Grand National Festival (Early April)

The next major springtime sports event on our list is the Grand National Festival, which will be held for three days from 7th – 9th April in 2022 at the Aintree Racecourse. The entire festival is scheduled around the Grand National, of course, but there are quite a few other Grades I races on the cards as well this year.

The richest jump race in Britain, the Grand National Steeplechase (4miles 2½f) is scheduled to be held at 5:15 pm on Grand National Saturday, 9th April. Also keep an eye on the Betway Bowl (3miles 1f) scheduled to be held at 2:50 pm on Grand National Thursday, 7th April, as well as the Melling Chase (2miles 4f) on Ladies Day Friday, 8th April at 3:25 pm.

Several Weeks of Premier League 2021 – 22 Action

The ongoing Premier league 2021 – 22 season will continue until Sunday, May 22nd, which means that the English spring will have enough football action in it than we can handle. You can check out the full schedule at the official Premier League website.

The Championships Wimbledon (Late June – Early July)

Admittedly, late June counts as summer but knowing how the weather turns out every year nowadays, the dates for The Championships Wimbledon 2022 are not far enough to keep it out of the list here. The grandest of all grand slams will be held from 27th June – 10th July in 2022.

2022 Six Nations Rugby Championship: Round 5 (May)

The 2022 Six Nations Rugby Championship will start on 5th February, at which time, it is likely to be freezing! Nevertheless, the 5th and final round of the Six Nations Championship is scheduled for Saturday, 19th March, which marks the beginning of spring.

It will still be pretty cold for sure, but you can always watch the three matches from the warm comfort of your home.

  • Wales vs. Italy at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff at 2.15 pm
  • Ireland vs. Scotland at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin at 4.45 pm
  • France vs. England at the Stade de France in Paris at 8 pm

The British Masters (May)

This year, the British Masters is going to be hosted by Danny Willett at The Belfry. So far, the schedule is set from 5th to 8th May, which should provide perfect weather for the major British gold open to proceed without too much hindrance.

Special mention must be given to ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand, which will be held from 4th March to 3rd April 2022. Although it’s neither going to be held in the UK nor is it going to be anywhere near spring in New Zealand at the time, it’s a national event and the women’s English cricket team has excellent odds of winning in 2022. Besides, it’s still going to be early spring during the finals in the UK.
