Springbok Star Commits Future To Bath rugby

Bath Rugby's South African colossus Francois Louw has committed his future to the club, by signing a deal which will keep him in Somerset until at least 2019, the Premiership side have today confirmed.

The new extension means the South African flanker will be with the West Country club for three more years.

Delighted with the news, head coach Mike Ford said: “Francois is one of the best players in the world, and we’re obviously delighted that he’s staying with us.

“His playing ability speaks for itself, but he also brings huge amounts of leadership, experience and intelligence to the Club off the field, which are invaluable as we continue to develop.”

An integral and influential presence in the back row, Louw is highly regarded across the rugby world, especially for his ability to create havoc at the breakdown.

He has made nearly 80 appearances for the Club, and won over 40 international caps for the Springboks – most recently at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Speaking of the contract extension, Louw said: “I’m really excited to have extended my stay at Bath.

“It is a great environment to be involved in, and also, importantly, my family are very happy and settled in the city.

"Everyone is committed to improving and being the best they can be here, and I’m looking forward to the next few years and playing my part in the Club’s future," he added.

Louw will next be in action for the Blue, Black and White on Sunday, January 10, as Bath travel to Toulon in the European Champions Cup rescheduled fixture. Kick off 15:15.
