Easter Activities Boost Fundraising For Somerset Rural Youth Project

Easter activities at Clarks Village got fundraising off to a good start for its 2016 charity of the year, Somerset Rural Youth Project (SRYP).

The activities, which included a Youth Music Showcase event featuring DJ performances by local young talent and the distribution of limited edition Clarks Village Bags-for-Life in return for donations have raised over £300.   The local Rotary Club also helped the charity by providing collectors.

SRYP, which was announced as Clarks Village Charity of the Year in January, was set up in 1997 to engage and support young people living in rural areas.  Steve Burge, Marketing Manager at Clarks Village said “The performances were fantastic and a good crowd of shoppers gathered to listen to them.  We have had some brilliant feedback and as well as being a great way to collect some charitable donations for  SRYP, it  also provided a platform for these young people to build confidence and showcase their musical talents.  The charity will be delivering a number of events and activities throughout the year.”

Following the success of the first Youth Music Showcase event, which was held during late night shopping,  SRYP will perform on the last Thursday of each month in the Village.

The next event takes place on Thursday 28th April and anyone under 25 years who would like to perform can get in touch with [email protected].
