Employee of Calne business nominated for tech industry award!

Black Nova Designs, an IT and website design company based in Calne, is proud to share the news that staff member Sasha Bird has been announced as a finalist in The Techies Awards 2021! The Techies are technology awards for Swindon and Wiltshire by the Business Exchange and aim to shine a light on tech talent in the area which might otherwise go unnoticed.

Sasha, who at just 17 years of age is the youngest member of the Black Nova Team, was nominated for the Future Tech Superstar category and was thrilled to be chosen by the judges as one of the 5 finalists. Not only is Sasha very young and at the start of her career, but she’s also the only female finalist in this year’s awards. Sasha has been working at Black Nova Designs for 4 years having started as a work experience student and working in her evenings and weekends. Her great work ethic and attention to detail immediately stood out from the crowd. What’s more, women working in coding is so rare, but Sasha has taken to it like a duck to water. Now, she is qualified in HTML and is learning CSS and other coding languages alongside her work. She is a WordPress superstar who uploads products, pages and edits to customer websites at amazing speed and has produced the Black Nova Designs free tutorials which are available online to help people master their technology.

The Techies 2021 awards are taking place virtually on Thursday the 4th of November and the Black Nova Designs team plans to gather at their HQ to mark the event. Some bubbly, takeaways and party poppers will be in order and the team have everything crossed that Sasha is announced as the winner on the night!
