New Accountancy Firm Hopes to Scoop Data Award

NEW WILTSHIRE accountancy firm Purple Lime has been been shortlisted for an award at The Techies 2018.

The company is up for the Driven by Data categoryin the awards, which are being held for the first time this year.

Purple Lime, based at Hartham Park, near Corsham, was started by Angela Ashworth and Oli Thomas in 2016 and prides itself on a 21stcentury approach to accounting.

The team of five accountants offer small businesses an outsourced flexible finance department using Xero cloud technology and can handle all aspects of the financial side of a business, from payroll to VAT returns to financial reports.

Co-founder Oli Thomas said: “It’s a really good feeling to be shortlisted. We focus quite heavily on technology and innovation, which is why these awards appealed to us. To be recognised in the shortlist is really positive, given what we’re trying to do.”

Purple Lime’s clients include Interactive Scientific of Bristol; Exxus Energy Ltd (London), The Bath Pub Company Ltd, Dan Preece Ltd, a local farrier, Ace Marquetry in Marlborough, A Touch of Tradition in Warminster and the Corsham Institute. 

The Techie Awards is an initiative organised by local journalist Anita Janes designed to celebrate the innovation of the IT community in Swindon and Wiltshire.

Categories include best tech support service, social impact award, cloud innovation of the year and most innovative tech solution.

More than 50 companies entered and a shortlist of 16 will attend the awards ceremony, which will take place from 7pm to 10pm on Thursday, May 10th, 2018 at Hartham Park, Corsham.

Anita Jaynes, founder of The Techies and its media partner The Business Exchange, said she was inspired to set up the awards to celebrate what is a flourishing sector in the region.

She said: “Despite the area being recognised as a hotbed for technology, there is currently no other award scheme dedicated to recognising this sector and its impact on our local economy.”
