TGt Meets... Laura Brewster, HUB XV

In our latest TGt Meets interview, we've been speaking to Laura Brewster, HUB Manager at HUB XV, all about her role and the wonderful city of Bath!

Tell us a little bit about your job role…
As HUB Manager I’m here to make sure HUB members have everything they need on a day to day basis, make sure the HUB is running properly and look at continual improvements and updates we could bring to the space.

What’s the most enjoyable part of your job?
Coming from a hospitality background working in hotels, restaurants and super yachts, I definitely enjoy the hosting element of the job – chatting to people, finding out about who they are and what they do and introducing them to other like-minded HUB members.

What’s been your biggest achievement to date?
Winning the Halloween Pumpkin Carving Competition – ha! I think setting up the day to day operational functions of the Hub, we’ve had two networking events so far and as a team we have made them a great success, they have both really shown how the community can grow and develop in the months and years to come!

What are your professional goals?
I’m looking forward to seeing how the HUB develops as it grows and as more venues open. It’s so exciting to be part of the team from the start and all the opportunities that lie ahead.

What do you think attracts business people to Bath?
Apart from being so beautiful, Bath has such a strong sense of community. After spending most of the last few years out of the country, I’ve loved how quickly you can re-immerse yourself into Bath business and social circles.

What makes HUB XV stand out from its competitors?
The ethos of the HUB – that it was founded on the principles of team-work, of making better use of otherwise empty but amazing venues, and of bringing people together. It’s a business that has foundations of compassion and care, which is really important in today’s society.

How do you like to spend your time off?
Being as lazy and relaxed as possible and feeling no guilt about it whatsoever!

Where’s your favourite place to eat out in Bath?
I was really impressed by The Acorn and also love Café Lucca for chilled Saturday morning coffee and cake.

Who’s your favourite Bath Rugby Player? (current or retired)
As I know absolutely nothing about rugby I’ll say Lee Mears as he’s one of the HUB’s ambassadors and really impressed me with his talk at the HUB launch in September.

Describe Bath in 3 words…
My beautiful home.
