Total Marketing MD Takes on 44-Mile Challenge for Royal Marines Charity

Total Marketing managing director Liz Hutchings is preparing to take on a 44-mile endurance challenge this September, raising money for the Royal Marines Charity alongside a group of military friends as part of the Braver Together Community Challenge.

A Dorset business leader is taking on a major personal challenge this September to raise money for a charity supporting Royal Marines and their families.

Liz Hutchings, managing director of Total Marketing, will walk 44 miles over two days as part of the Braver Together Community Challenge, raising funds for the Royal Marines Charity.

The challenge has a particularly personal connection for Liz, whose family has spent much of her adult life connected to the Royal Marines community. Her husband trained at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines in Lympstone before the family experienced years of military life, including moves, deployments and raising two children.

The two-day challenge will see Liz and fellow military wives cover around 22 miles from Poole to Lulworth before camping overnight at Freshwater Beach. After a recovery day, the group will complete a further 22-mile route from Seaton to Lympstone, finishing at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines.

Preparing for the challenge has involved fitting long-distance training around running a business and family life. Training sessions have included long weekend runs around Poole, the Purbecks and Dorset coast, alongside shorter weekday runs, strength work and cardio sessions.

The fundraising effort will support the Royal Marines Charity, which provides lifelong assistance to serving and former Royal Marines and their families. Its work includes welfare support, wellbeing, financial assistance, rehabilitation and help with the transition from military to civilian life.

The Braver Together team raised more than £9,300 last year and is hoping to increase that total this year. The challenge also aims to bring together the military and local business communities while raising awareness of the support available to military families.

The challenge highlights how local business leaders can use personal experiences and community connections to support causes that are important to them, while encouraging others to get involved through donations, fundraising support or simply sharing the campaign.
