VR World Congress Brings the Latest in Virtual Reality Innovation to the South West

Virtual Reality is poised to go mainstream this year and take over from apps and websites as the best new way to interact with computers. Apple CEO Tim Cook recently noted the worth of VR as much more than a simple niche, and with a huge newly-formed team researching and developing VR, one can only assume the tech firm has big plans for the technology.

The early stages of 2016 have seen VR dominate headlines as well as make huge waves in both the tech industry and further afield. South West businesses are being encouraged to be a part of VR World Congress (VRWC) in April to experience this technology first hand, and find out what all the fuss is about.

The event will bring 600 guests, including virtual reality’s leading experts and aficionados from across the globe to Bristol. Hosted by Bristol-based  Opposable VR along with Marriott Hotel, the congress will connect buyers, sellers and developers from the US, China and Europe to explore the future of the industry.

Following 2015’s sell-out South West VR conference, Opposable VR is introducing a dedicated expo hall packed full of incredible VR experiences and technologies from some of the world's most innovative studios and hardware manufacturers.

This comes alongside two speaker tracks filled to the brim with the top minds in virtual reality and emerging technology. Industry giants such as Sony, Samsung, HTC and Facebook have all invested in VR and their devices will be front and centre at VR World Congress.

With 2016 expected to be the year of virtual reality, the event brings the industry’s brightest minds to Bristol and will feature talks for both newcomers and seasoned professionals.

Commenting on VR World Congress, organiser Ben Trewhella of Opposable VR, said:

“VR World Congress couldn’t come at a better time. With the Samsung Gear VR on the market and Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR and HTC Vive all expected to be released in the first half of 2016; virtual reality is one of the hottest trends to follow. With a meeting system and area, dedicated exhibition hall and two targeted talk tracks, this event is not to be missed.”

As part of the event, Enterprise Europe Network South West (EENSW) will be hosting a free brokerage event where delegates will be able to pre-register for 1-2-1 meetings with exhibitors, buyers, sellers and professionals in and around the VR industry.

Commenting on VR World Congress, Korash Sanjideh, Digital and Creative Sector Lead at EENSW, said:

“In a global economy that is picking up pace by the second, it is vital for businesses to stay one step ahead. This industry is set to reach new heights in 2016, and EENSW’s brokerage event gives local businesses the chance to stay ahead of the curve by meeting experts and enthusiasts for possible collaboration and to share ideas. In a few years we could look back and say this was the event that put the South West on the virtual reality map.”
