Street parties will be happening throughout the city, bringing plenty of excitement and opportunities for residents to connect.
St Barnabas Church in Southdown is welcoming the community into its grounds from 3 p.m. on Monday, May 5th, 2025. People can bring a picnic and enjoy the games, prizes, music, and drinks on offer.
On the same day, The Tyning in Widcombe will be closed from 10AM to 6 PM, Horseshoe Walk will be shut between 1PM and 5PM to allow for festivities, and Swainswick residents will have their own street party between 1PM and 8PM. Road closures will impact Tadwick Lane and Blacksmith Lane.
Later in the week, Rush Hill Mews on Clarks Way will be holding a VE Day celebration on Wednesday 7th, May which offers plenty of educational opportunities, such as residents reading out their own VE Day memories.
In the afternoon, visitors will be transported back to the 1940’s with an authentic street party with live entertainment and refreshments, as well as a talk from the Bath Record Office on the evacuation of children, air raid precautions and the Bath Blitz and Admiralty.
This year’s VE Day celebrations in and around Bath will bring communities together to enjoy the upcoming warm weather and remember an essential part of British history.
