Let's Talk
Experience Bath's Thermae Spa & Michelin Dining in a Day
If you’re a Brit or if you spent time travelling around England in pursuit of life’s luxuries, you’ve no doubt heard of or been to Bath. This charming city has been standing in some form since 70AD, when it was founded by the Romans during their occupation of what would one day become England. As fashionable now as it has been for most of its history, Bath is a place to enjoy a slightly slower pace of life, indulge in delicious cuisine, and take a little break from the “day-to-day” grind.
It's one particular feature of a Roman city that has made Bath famous, beloved and popular as it is: Roman baths. Aside from all the stunning architecture, high-end restaurants, boutiques, and other recreational activities that Bath offers, people come here for the restorative properties of its hot springs. There's a lot to take in and plenty to entertain you over a break or a holiday… but what if you only have a day to enjoy it all? Here's how to experience the best of Bath’s Michelin-starred cuisine and the Thermae Spa in only 24 short hours.
The Travel
The most practical way to minimise travel time is to arrange the best, most seamless travel experience possible: a private jet. Not only is a private jet flight the most comfortable and luxurious way to get around, but it's also one of the fastest in the world. Your flights are set on your schedule, you avoid queues and flight delays at commercial airports, and you can take off as soon as your trip comes to a close rather than waiting for a flight in the early hours.
The Spa
Thermae Bath Spa is the only day spa in all of Britain that features the use of natural thermal water in 2025. Although the thermal baths in the city had been “falling out of vogue” for some time, this spa is an homage to the vitality and the efficacy of the waters that still run here. When the hydropathic centre closed, the city seemed to limp along halfheartedly, but when the Roman Baths and the Pump Room were reopened to the public, the demand for healing waters was once again on the rise, and Thermae rose to meet them.
There are many treatments and spaces for visitors to enjoy at the Thermae Spa.
1. The New Royal Bath in the Main Spa
This light, open, and airy space filled with water and the sounds of trickling, pouring, and calm rippling is available for booking, two hours at a time. As this spa is adults only, the atmosphere is calm and organised, inviting you to unburden yourself and indulge in some well-deserved R&R.
2. Open Air Rooftop Pool
Enjoy this space both by day and by night, and take in the spectacular views of Bath and the surrounding countryside from high above. The mineral-rich waters in the pool are a treat by themselves, but the experience is further enhanced by comfortable air sets and the firm pressure of jets.
3. The Minerva Bath
Named for the Roman goddess of wisdom and health, this bath is the most nobly proportioned in the spa. Grand columns and water-inspired curves bring a sense of occasion and glamour to the space. The gentle thermal waters are invigorated by the addition of a whirlpool.
4. Wellness Suite
Enjoy a cutting-edge Infrared Room, the stimulating Ice Chamber, either of the two aromatherapy steam rooms (which influence displays of the spa traditions of the Georgian and Roman periods) the Celestial Relaxation Room.
The Cuisine
1. The Olive Tree
The only restaurant with an official Michelin Star in all of Bath, the Olive Tree is nestled comfortably in the basement space of the Queenberry Hotel. Taking comforting, fresh West Country produce and transforming it into sublime, refined cuisine. The restaurant has dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan options, all of which are just as hearty and classically British as the more traditional dishes.
2. Beckford Bottle Shop & Bistro
This is heaven for wine lovers: a refuge from the pace of the outside world and a chance to sink into a deep red sofa and sip something divine. The atmosphere is close: warm and welcoming with a feeling of richness and comfort all through the space. The bib-gourmand sharing plates, charcuterie boards, excellent cheeses and more than thirty options for wine by the glass make it an excellent spot for delicious nibbles.
3. Chez Dominique
This family-run establishment puts a delightful spin on both European and French dishes made from the highest quality ingredients. Even so, the atmosphere at the restaurant is fairly casual, but still refined enough to leave a memorable impression. Come for the prix fixé
menu every lunchtime or the al la carte menu on the evenings and relax in the soft glow of the lights and sparkling conversations in the dining room.
The Plan
1. Check into the Spa
Head to Thermale to check in and arrange your day. Begin with a light snack and maybe even a glass of champagne or mimosa in the Minerva Bath.
2. Brunch
Pop over to the Beckford Bottle Shop and Bistro for a light, nibbly brunch (they open at 11 AM). A lighter meal will leave you comfortable for spa enjoyment during the day.
3. Back to the Spa
Now for the main event: some time in the Wellness Suite to rejuvenate both body and mind.
4. A Slow Lunch
Treat yourself to a table at Chez Dominique- but remember to book in advance! Savour both French and European flavours and relax in the locale’s intimate ambience.
5. Sunset in the Rooftop Pool
Back to the spa for one last treat: the incredible sunset and early evening view from the Rooftop Pool.
6. Late Supper
Your table at the Olive Tree awaits, with fine dining on the table for every course. What a delectable experience!
All That’s Left… …is to wrap your refreshed, revitalised self in some comfortable travelling clothes, board your charter flight and head home after a full day of pampering and luxury. What a relaxing 24-hour visit to Bath!
