Parade Hotel Bath: historic Georgian buildings set for a new chapter

A trio of Grade-I listed Georgian townhouses in the heart of Bath is being transformed into a new boutique hotel, with Parade Hotel Bath set to open later this month.

A new hotel is preparing to welcome its first guests in one of Bath's most historic locations, bringing a fresh take on three Georgian townhouses dating back to the 18th century.

Parade Hotel Bath, formerly Parade Park Hotel, is being launched by Providence Hotels following an extensive transformation of the Grade-I listed buildings.

Set on North Parade in the heart of the city, the hotel will offer 49 bedrooms, a bar and lounge, and a boutique courtyard spa, with a restaurant planned as part of a second phase of the development.

The hotel is expected to open in September 2026, giving visitors a new option for a city break in Bath as autumn arrives.

A Georgian setting with a contemporary feel

The three original buildings were designed in 1740 by John Wood the Elder, the architect whose work helped establish the distinctive Georgian character for which Bath is famous.
Originally built as boarding houses, the properties have a fascinating connection with the city's historic social scene.

The buildings were once connected beneath the road to Parade Gardens, the Grade-II listed riverside gardens created as a place for entertainment and private promenades for Bath's fashionable spa visitors.

More than 280 years later, the buildings are being given a new lease of life as a boutique hotel, with the restoration intended to retain their historic character while introducing contemporary comforts.

49 rooms across six floors

The new Parade Hotel Bath will have 49 bedrooms spread across six floors, with accommodation designed to suit different types of stays.

Room categories will range from compact Snug rooms through to larger Suites capable of sleeping up to four guests, making the hotel suitable for everything from couples' city breaks to family trips.

Three of the rooms will be Spa Garden Rooms, located within the newly designed Courtyard Spa at the rear of the property.

For guests who like to maintain their fitness routine while travelling, spa boxes containing weights and yoga mats will also be available to order for rooms.

A new Bath spa experience

One of the most anticipated features of the hotel is its Courtyard Spa, designed as a calm space for guests to relax after exploring the city.

The boutique spa will include a sauna, cold plunge, hot tub, outdoor shower and relaxation area, alongside a treatment room.

The combination of hot and cold facilities gives guests the opportunity to build some downtime into their Bath stay without needing to leave the hotel. And with the city's major attractions, shops, restaurants and historic streets all within easy reach, guests will be able to combine sightseeing with some much-needed relaxation.

Introducing the 1748 Bar

At the front of the hotel, the 1748 Bar will occupy the double-fronted ground floor space of the central townhouse.
The historic setting will include floor-to-ceiling sash windows, a fireplace and original-style wooden panelling, creating a space that reflects the character of the building.

The bar will also serve breakfast, with its food and drink offering taking inspiration from the West Country.
Guests can expect locally sourced ingredients and products including artisanal cheeses, Somerset charcuterie and baked goods, alongside beers, wines, ciders and spirits from the region.

Further details of the menus are expected to be revealed ahead of the hotel's opening.

A hotel designed around Bath

The location is arguably one of Parade Hotel Bath's biggest attractions.

Situated on North Parade, the hotel places guests in the centre of the city and within easy walking distance of many of Bath's best-known sights.

Parade Gardens, Bath Abbey, Pulteney Bridge and the Roman Baths are all close by, making it possible to explore much of the city without relying on a car.

It also puts visitors in a particularly good position for some of Bath's seasonal highlights, including the city's famous Christmas Market later in the year.
