TGtB Meets... Rob Webber

Get to know Bath Rugby Star Rob Webber, and England hooker, in our latest TGtB Meets...

What is your earliest rugby memory?

My earliest memory must be playing for Pocklington RUFC in Yorkshire – or maybe playing with my family!

What have been the lowest and highest points in your so far career?

The lowest point of my career has to be injuries. There is nothing worse than being unable to play, and having to take time off the field when all you want to do is get back to playing!

The highest point has been playing for England in New Zealand.

Who do you cite as your sporting idol?

I don't really have an idol, but I was lucky enough to play with former France captain Raphael Ibanez who was an incredible competitor and great bloke. I learnt a lot from him!

What was it that inspired you to play rugby?

My whole family is really into rugby and it was always something we’d do as a group. I’d always play in the same team as my brother which was great.

What would your team mates say your best qualities were?

My hair!

What is your most treasured possession?

I love music so it has to be my Spotify account!

How do you spend your time when you’re not training or playing?

If I have enough time, I like to get away and travel to different city with my fiancée Lauren.

What's the best bit of advice you've ever received?

The best advice I’ve been given is to always enjoy what you're doing.

You must have a pretty strict diet and fitness regime, what’s your food weakness?

Bread. It has to be bread which I think must be a weakness for a lot of players.

What advice would you give to young, aspiring rugby players?

Always work hard but make sure you enjoy the ride.
