Your Total Guide To lifestyle

TGtB Meets...Will Spencer

Forward Will Spencer is the latest Bath Rugby player to face our ten question grilling. Read on to find out what makes him tick.

At what age did you first become interested in Rugby?

My passion for the game started from a young age. I think that I was about 10 years old, I used to watch matches on the telly with my Dad and loved it, so thought that I'd give it a go myself.

What’s been the greatest highlight of your career so far?

I've been fortunate enough to have so many great moments but making my Bath debut was certainly quite a special moment for me.

Who do you cite as your sporting idol?

That's a tough one, growing up my idols were certainly different to who they are now. I’d probably have to say Brian Johnston, he was a great centre but his speed also saw him play on the wing.

Who’s the biggest joker on the squad?

Tom Biggs, he’s always joking, and full of banter - he’s a pretty funny guy.

Talk us through your personal fitness regime…

Everybody's different but being a forward, I do a lot of wrestling and combat work.

What does your typical daily diet consist of?

I eat 3 meals at the club, which are mainly protein based, and lots of veg. I try to avoid too many carbs, they're usually reserved for the bigger players.

What are your favourite things to see and do in Bath? Do you have any recommendations for us?

Bath is a cracking night out, Second Bridge is always a good laugh. It’s a nice city in general, there are loads of nice coffee shops, so you can always find a place to chill.

How do you like to spend your time off?

I usually just catching up with my friends and relax. I'm a bit of a film buff, so I'm always down the cinema.

What advice would you give to any young, aspiring rugby players?

Keep your head down and work hard. Always keep trying no matter what.

What's the most enjoyable or rewarding part of your job?

Saturday at the Rec, it’s an amazing atmosphere and makes all the hard training sessions worth it.
