Review: Clarins Skin Blitz Facial for Men

We sent Features Editor Daniel Flay along to FRONTLINEstyle for a spot of pampering and to review their fantastic Clarins Skin Blitz Facial for Men.

Being a 21st century chap, I'm used to the odd bit of plucking and preening that's expected of modern men. My grooming ritual, however, usually takes place in the comfort of my own home!

Despite littering my bathroom cabinet with all kinds of potions and creams, that promise to do everything from "unblock pores" to "turn back time", the notion of visiting a salon for a treatment was a new, albeit daunting experience for me.

In an age where an increasing number of men wax, tan and shave (EVERYWHERE) my initial reluctance seemed somewhat unnecessary. Perhaps it was from fear of judgement or maybe even from a lack of experience - either way prior to my visit to FRONTLINEstyle I was nervous to say the least.

The treatment that I decided upon was a Clarins Skin Blitz Facial for Men. The process targets and treats shaving bumps and irritation, stress and tiredness - leaving skin feeling refreshed, healthy and smooth.

Of all of the treatments that FRONTLINEstyle offer men, this was the one that I was in need of the most. Like most guys, I regularly suffer from razor rash and blocked pores. Having lived with these problems for some time, I finally decided that enough was enough and that action needed to be taken.

My therapist on the day was a lovely lady called Fran. Unlike the over-the-top, perma-tanned beauticians that you see on TOWIE, Fran was a pleasant contrast. She was softly spoken, with a calming demeanour and a friendly approach.

Following a brief chat, Fran escorted me to a changing room where she asked me to undress and slip on a robe. However, being a beauty treatment novice, I wasn't quite sure what she meant by "undress". Several awkward naked moments later, I plucked up the courage to poke my head around the door and ask if I could keep my boxers on - the answer was of course yes.

Having slipped my boxers back on and a pair of complimentary flip flops, it was time to head up to the treatment room. As I walked through the door, I was met by the sound of serene music and tranquil lighting.

Once led down, I was swathed in towels and immersed into a world of pure relaxation. For the next hour Fran gently cleansed, refreshed, exfoliated and decongested my skin. The treatment was so relaxing, that I almost fell asleep on several occasions.

In addition to treating my face, Fran also massaged my scalp, shoulders, arms and legs. This rejuvenating step tackled my congested and tired muscles, leaving them feeling refreshed and renewed.

Following the treatment I was left with a clearer face and a more even skin tone. My skin was smoother to the touch and it radiated a healthy glow.

However, it wasn't just a physical change that I felt, my general well-being had improved too. Not only was I totally de-stressed but I had a new appreciation for the way that beauty treatments can boost confidence and lift moods.

After reflecting upon how I felt prior to my appointment, it was clear that I had nothing to worry about. Frontline Style is a superb salon, with a skilled staff of beauty experts. Their focus is to make men and women look and feel their best, in a comfortable and care-free environment.

My visit left me open to the idea of returning for future treatments, so it may look like it's time to clear out my bathroom cabinet and book another appointment.
