PIZZA MAKERS DELIVER CASH BOOST TO LOCAL SCHOOL

Pizza lovers in Cleeve near Cheltenham helped to raise over £400 for a community project by placing an order over the Coronation weekend.

Local business CasaGees marked the occasion by donating half of their turnover for the weekend. Their customers all voted for a project to be the recipient of the money.

The Takeaway2Giveaway initiative was the idea of Rachael Willoughby, known as Mama Gee and her partner Elliott Richmond, Papa Gee, who deliver traditional Neapolitan pizzas within a four mile radius of their Gloucestershire home.

Rachael said: “We requested nominations for good causes then drew up a shortlist and asked local people to vote. The lucky winner was Friends of Grangefield School (FOGS) and we are really pleased to be able to give their funds an extra boost.”

The CasaGees story began three years ago during lockdown when the couple started selling pizzas alongside running their software business. It was a side hustle to see them through a difficult time when many small businesses struggled to survive. The authentic dough is all made from scratch by Elliott, who grew up on the Mediterranean island of Malta and has always made his own pizzas.

The business can bring in £2,000 profit per month and they have now started a franchise for others to do the same across the UK in their own communities.

Following the recent fund-raising drive, Treasurer of FOGS Sam Scarsbrook, was presented with a cheque for £410. The money will be used to replace a storage shed which is falling into disrepair.

Sam said: “We are so grateful to CasaGees for generously donating 50% of their takings from the Coronation weekend and also want to thank all the local families who ordered yummy pizzas. The FOGS shed had become home to a family of mice and a lot of kit has been ruined so this money will help us to rectify the problem.”
