Bath City to honour club legend Jim Rollo with testimonial match

Bath City will mark Jim Rollo's 20 years of the service to the club with a testimonial match.

Rollo initially joined the Romans on loan from Cardiff City during the 1996-97 where he made four appearances before returning to Cardiff and being loaned out to Ebbw Vale before joining Forest Green Rovers in 1998.

Bath re-signed Rollo on loan in 1999 but again the spell was temporary and he played a further four games but he would come back for a third time in 2002.

That period at Twerton Park was one that would last a decade. From 2002 to 2012 Rollo featured 475 times for Bath, scoring nine goals, which endeared him to the club's fans as 'Mr.Bath' and it makes him the club's fourth all-time appearance maker.

He captained City to the Southern League Premier Division Championship win in 2007 and also promotion back to the Conference Premier three years later.

In 2012 he joined Chippenham but the Bath pull was too much and he put pen-to-paper at the club for a fourth time in 2013 and featured for a further two occasions and he is now the assistant manager at Twerton Park.

Rollo told www.BathCity.com his thanks for such a kind gesture: "I would like to thank the club for rewarding me with a testimonial game for my services to Bath City FC.

"It's a very special club to me that I have grown to love over the last 20 years. To captain the team and to almost make 500 appearance is something I am very proud of.

"I have met and made friends with some wonderful people through football and I look forward to celebrating with them when I have the testimonial game."

The club also placed on record their thanks to Rollo: "Everyone connected to City would also like to congratulate him for service to the Club, professional attitude and great personality."

It is not yet clear who Bath will play in the testimonial. Those, and further details, will follow in due course.
