Bath Rugby linked to Crusaders centre Robbie Fruean

A pre-season of turn-over could be set to continue at Bath Rugby as Robbie Fruean could be set to join from New Zealand-based outfit Crusaders.

Fruean, who missed the entire Super Rugby season last year due to a chest injury, and, if the deal goes through, Fruean will link up again with new Bath coach Todd Blackadder who he worked under at Crusaders from 2010 to 2013 and then again in 2015 and 2016.

Back in 2007, Fruean was named the under-19 Player of the Year in World Rugby but has had to overcome adversity since.

He had open-heart surgery in 2013 after being diagnosed with Rheumatic fever with could have ended not just his rugby career, but his life.

In 2014, his potential new coach Blackadder said: "Robbie is a true inspiration to us all and he is a fantastic rugby player."
