Bath Rugby Not Extending Kane Palma-Newport’s Contract Past 2017/18 Season

We’ve been working with Bath Rugby since 2013 and have been lucky enough to sponsor Kane Palma-Newport every season since. It was personally devastating to hear that Kane will no longer be pulling on the shirt for his home-town club after this summer.

Kane, who has made over 50 appearances for the blue, black and white featured in the 2017/18 season opener against Leicester Tigers before being forced to leave the field after 50 minutes. The injury turned out to be an Achilles tendon issue which would see him out for the season.

The prop, a product of Bath Rugby’s Academy made his Aviva Premiership debut in 2010 against Newcastle Falcons and captained the side to lifting the 2013 Aviva A League trophy.  Kane has played a major part in the Rugby Players Association (RPA)’s ‘Lift the Weight’ campaign, focusing on breaking the taboo that surrounds professional athletes talking about mental health.

Kane, the player, was just starting to break in to the starting rotation in the front row for Bath Rugby, and with a healthy 2018 may well have cemented himself as a Aviva Premiership starting prop. Unfortunately we won’t find out what might have been.

Kane, the man, is something else we’d like to talk about. Having had the pleasure of spending time with him and his family on multiple occasions, we can say with confidence that Bath will, unfortunately, be losing an bright, humble and loyal member of the team. We’re sure to remain in contact with Kane and we’d like to thank him for making our relationship with Bath Rugby so enjoyable.

Whatever the next step for Kane, who has a degree in Business through the RFU, we’re sure he’ll be a success. Everyone at Total Guide to Bath would like to send their fondest wishes and we’ll see you soon.
