Bath Rugby record crucial win over champions Saracens
Bath Rugby have well and truly got tongues wagging of play-off talk thanks to a 14-11 win over reigning champions Saracens at the Recreation Ground.
Bath had a number of Internationals at their disposal, including Semesa Rokoduguni who shockingly was dropped from the England squad last week, but they were still without regular fly-half George Ford and Jonathan Joseph who were still with the Red Rose.
No Ford, no problem for Bath though, as with just six minutes played stand-in kicker Tom Homer knocked a penalty through the posts for 3-0.
Saracens levelled with a penalty of their own from Alex Lozowski in the 19th minute but that didn't last long as two minutes later Homer was on point to make it 6-3.
In the 25th minute Max Clarke extended Bath's lead to 11-3 with his try but Homer failed to convert which kept the Blue, Black and White on edge.
Especially when Saracens scored a try of their own two minutes before half-time through Sean Maitland - but again, no conversion. 11-8.
Seven minutes into the second half Saracens kicked themselves level with an impressive Lozowski drop goal.
With 51 minutes gone, Homer scored the decisive points with a penalty and, for the whole half hour, Bath held on to move up to second, just three points behind holders and leaders Saracens.
