Colin Jackson officially opens Team Bath Gym

Olympic legend Colin Jackson, who won multiple golds in the 110m hurdles, officially opened the brand-new Team Bath Gym on Wednesday.

Jackson trained at the University of Bath back in his hurdling days and jumped at the chance to open the new gym for Team Bath to help future generations of athletes that live and train in the city.

As he opened the new gym, Jackson was joined by gym members, University of Bath staff and representatives of Matrix Fitness UK - the company that has kitted out the gym with new state-of-the-art equipment.

Speaking after cutting the ribbon, Jackson said:

"It gives me great pleasure to officially open the Team Bath Gym.

"I won many World, European and Commonwealth medals while proudly representing Team Bath, so it is always great to come back here and see how the University and Sports Training Village is developing.

"I am so jealous of you guys at the University having this amazing equipment - back in the day I just used to lift dead weights!"

The Director of Sport for the University of Bath, Stephen Baddeley said: "The Matrix equipment is fantastic - this is the only place in Europe you will find some of the equipment, it is absolutely at the leading edge of technology, and will be of huge benefit to our students and customers."
