A fast, flat out-and-back half marathon on the tarmac Tarka Trail with riverside scenery, stations, and a short tunnel.

The opening and closing kilometre of the route is across the farm fields at Woolmer's Farm, using a mix of grass fields and farm track. The vast majority of the route is on the tarmac of the Tarka Trail, creating a smooth and very flat surface. This is an out-and-back run with the picturesque River Taw forming the backdrop.

At 3km runners pass an old station (now a cafe) at Fremington Quay and run through a short 76m tunnel approaching the second station at Instow. A drinks station is located around 7km. The route continues along the River Torridge with views towards Appledore across the water, before reaching the turn point and returning to the finish.
