Tarka Trail Railway Races 25km
Runners arriving at Smytham Holiday Park (including those staying on site) collect race numbers at the park before a short woodland walk to the start line on the path. The opening section is a gentle downhill trail for around 5km. The course includes a road crossing and drinks stations at approximately 2.5km and around 5km at Torrington Station.
The route continues through sheltered, tree-lined green sections along the hillside and crosses the River Torridge heading towards Bideford for the next drinks station, located just after the halfway point. The course then flattens, with another station at Instow with a second tunnel shortly after, and a final station with around 5km to go before leaving the tarmac trail for farm tracks and fields to the finish.
Elevation: approximately 47m climb and 107m loss (net loss ~60m).
