Gill proud to see Bath City have 'a right good go' in defeat at Yeovil

Bath City boss Jerry Gill declared his immense pride in his troops having “a right good go” at National League South leaders Yeovil Town.

The Romans succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to the full-time Glovers, with Jordan Young and Frank Nouble striking either side of the interval at Huish Park.

Jordan Dyer came closest for Bath with the score at 1-0 – but despite defeat, Gill was keen to take the positives.

He told the club website: “They were better than us first half, I’ve got to be honest, but without creating. They didn’t really create anything too much apart from the goal.

“But we didn’t show our personality enough I don’t think in the first half. Second half, we did, we really stepped onto it.

“We had the moment with Jordan, another day that goes in but I can’t fault the boys’ effort, they’ve had a right good go.”

He added: “I have to say a huge, huge thank you to the fans that travelled down. It wasn’t so long ago at Twerton Park we were only getting 550, 600.

“To see that packed end there – it must have been near 1,000 Bath City fans that came down and saw their team, like they have been seeing their team week in week out, have a right good go at it.

“To be able to play Yeovil Town in this league on merit, we don’t raise our game for them. We’ve played at that level for most of the season so far.

“Having the best defensive record bar two others in the league and scoring the most goals bar two others in the league, means you’ve got some consistency.

“We are going to take confidence from it. There’s no doom and gloom. We’ve come out the dressing room and spoke about a lot of positive stuff – bits we can always work on.

“We showed we are more than capable in this league and we’ve got a target where we want to finish.”

Defeat leaves Bath City sixth in the division, with 41 points from 26 league games.
