Universities Put on Free Concert for the Community

The University of Bath Choral and Orchestral Society, Big Band and Concert Band will be performing in a joint concert with the University of Warwick Wind Orchestra.

The concert will comprise of individual sets from all three ensembles, showcasing the talents of each group, and culminating in a joint performance.

All the ensembles have been hard at work to produce what should be a great afternoon’s entertainment. The Students’ Union Chair of the Choral and Orchestral Society, Rachel Naylor, said, “This is the first time that there has been a collaboration of this kind in recent memory. It is a pleasure to have the chance to perform at the Roper Theatre in the heart of the local community.”

The programme features a variety of styles of music, including Winterbottom’s arrangement of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol, to music from Shrek, The Incredibles and Star Wars as well as Tijuana Taxi.

The Choral and Orchestral Society wishes to welcome all members of the local community to the free concert, to celebrate the Town and Gown relationship within Bath. Rachel Naylor explains, “Thanks to funding from the ICIA at the University we warmly invite all local residents to share this special occasion with us for free. Our musicians greatly value being part of the community in Bath and this is a way of saying thank you.”
