Patrizia Ribul to join Bath Preservation Trust as Director of Museums

Bath Preservation Trust (BPT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Patrizia Ribul as its new Director of Museums. Patrizia will join BPT in October 2023.

Having served as Acquisitions Programme Manager at the Tate for 11 years, with a wider background working in a range of public and private/commercial organisations nationally and internationally, Patrizia brings a wealth of arts and heritage expertise to her new role at BPT. Most recently Patrizia has worked as Executive Director at the Burton at Bideford Art Gallery Museum, alongside a project management role at Spike Island Art Space in Bristol.

Bath Preservation Trust is a Bath-based charity which promotes the celebration of Bath’s history and heritage through its advocacy and campaigning work and through its four museums: No.1 Royal Crescent, the Herschel Museum of Astronomy, Beckford’s Tower (currently closed, reopening in spring 2024) and the Museum of Bath Architecture (currently closed). In her role as Director of Museums, Patrizia will create and drive the forward strategy for the museums’ exhibitions, tours and the learning and engagement programme, in addition to exploring commercial opportunities.

Alex Sherman, CEO of Bath Preservation Trust says: “We are all delighted to welcome Patrizia to BPT, and at such an exciting time for our museums. Beckford’s Tower is currently undergoing a capital works project which will see the museum completely refurbished and refitted, with brand new interpretation telling the complex story of William Beckford’s wealth from the transatlantic slave trade and the privilege and power over others it gave him. Before its reopening in April 2024, Patrizia will be pivotal to lead the successful relaunch of this important and significant site. Other priorities will include the coordination of our temporary exhibitions and public programme, and the redesign and repurposing of the Museum of Bath Architecture. Patrizia is a highly skilled arts professional, and I am confident that her passions and unique industry insights will provide both support and stimulus to BPT’s onward success.”

Patrizia Ribul comments: “I’m thrilled to be joining the Bath Preservation Trust, leading these crucial organisations with such timely, pressing scopes of preserving history. It’s a privilege to be part of the team showcasing Bath’s rich heritage and culture, supporting education and engagement for both the people of Bath and its millions of visitors each year. I look forward to adding to BPT’s vision to make culture and history accessible to all.”
