Mary Berry

Yes…that’s right! The Queen of GBBO herself was born in Bath in 1935. She grew up in the city, attending Bath High School and Bath College of Domestic Science. Mary's dad, Alleyne, served as Mayor of Bath in 1952 and was closely involved in establishing the University of Bath at Claverton Down. 

When Mary attended Bath High School, she described her academic abilities as "hopeless" until she attended domestic science classes with a teacher called Miss Date, who was particularly encouraging of her cooking abilities. And the rest is history! Since then, she has gone on to win numerous awards, release over seventy cook books and become a global icon in the baking world!

Jacqueline Wilson

Jacqueline Wilson is a number one best selling children’s author, who has sold over 35 million copies worldwide. In her lifetime, she has written 110+ books and began writing at the age of just 9 - her first 'novel being Meet the Maggots.

Her most popular character is Tracy Beaker, a popular story that went on to become a hugely popular TV series back in 2002 - 2005 and has been a world-wide sensation ever since. Although Wilson was born in Bath, she spent most of her childhood growing up in Kingston on Thames in London.

Indira Varma

Indira Varma is a British-Swiss actress, born in our wonderful city of Bath in 1973. She has starred in a number of films, TV series and Netflix shows including Game of Thrones, Rome and Luther. Her latest starring role is in Amazon Prime series, Paranoid. Indira grew up in Bath and spent a lot of her childhood there before moving on to live and work in London. 

Ann Widdecombe

Ann Widdecombe is a British politician and author serving as a Member of the European Parliament for South West England as a member of the Brexit Party. Ann was born in Bath and lived three happy years then until she moved on to live in Portsmouth with her family due to her father's work for the Navy. 

Scott Sinclair

Scott Sinclair is a professional English Football player who has previously represented England as a youth player for both under 17's and under 21's as well as taking part in the 2012 Olympics. Scott was born in Bath in 1989 and attended Ralph Allen School in the city. His career began by joining nearby Bristol Rovers at the age of just nine!

Betty Cooper

Betty Cooper was a British actress born in Bath who appeared in 60+ different shows and films. She was best known for BBC Sunday-Night Theatre (1950), The Passionate Pilgrim (1949) and Blackmailed (1951). Betty died at the age of 69 in 1979. 

Curt Smith

Curt Smith is an English singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, and co-founding member of the pop rock band Tears for Fears who was born in the City of Bath in 1961. Smith grew up in Bath and lived on the Snow Hill council estate (subject of his track "Snow Hill"). He attended the Beechen Cliff School in Bath.
