The Olive Tree Restaurant Gets a New Look

Bath?s fabulous Olive Tree Restaurant has just revealed a major new refurbishment.

The award winning restaurant, situated in The Queensberry Hotel in Bath, has had both its restaurant and kitchen revamped.

Laurence Beere bought the hotel with wife Helen in 2003, and a restaurant refurbishment was the first project they undertook as new owners. Laurence says:  “It was a great learning process for us and was a big step forward at the time in how we wanted to change the look and feel of The Queensberry Hotel and The Olive Tree Restaurant. However over the years, as we have grown ourselves, and with the experience of owning the business for the last 12 years, we have regularly felt that there were aspects of the restaurant that given the chance again we would do differently.”

The Olive Tree worked with Interior Designers, Absolute to bring a relaxed elegance to the restaurant, to feel appropriate for the quality and style of food. Absolute were also the interior team behind The Old Q Bar and have worked with the hotel for the past 5 years on their rebrand, brand management and marketing. Laurence explains: “We wanted the restaurant to have a richer more opulent feel to it, without being stuffy or over fussy. The new restaurant embraces and reflects the quirkiness that the hotel and particularly The Old Q Bar do. We are a serious restaurant that does not take itself too seriously.”

As well as refurbishing the restaurant, the hotel also undertook a complete refit of the kitchen, giving Head Chef Chris Cleghorn and the team a state of the art modern facility - a much-improved working environment for both the Kitchen and Front of House teams.

Chris says of the new look facilities: “We believe that today guests want to experience the finest quality ingredients prepared with excellence but served in a relaxed and contemporary venue. Eating and drinking should be fun! The quirky twists that the new look restaurant have incorporated alongside the style and comfort are a perfect complement to the food, wine and drinks that we offer.”

Doors opened to the public on Tuesday 19th May 2015 and diners can now enjoy an exceptional setting while they sample the restaurant’s award-winning food and wine - In 2014 the 3 AA establishment gained the Taste of the West Gold accolade, and also were awarded The UK’s Best Wine List in the AA Hospitality Awards.

Situated in the heart of the West Country, The Olive Tree works with a plethora of local suppliers to create delicious dishes that delight the taste buds. Tipped for a Michelin star, Head Chef Chris Cleghorn’s exciting menus hint at his time with Heston Blumenthal & Michael Caines, whilst delivering a Classic British fine dining experience that make the multi award-winning eatery so popular.
