Meet July's Wine of the Month: Raimes Classic Sparkling, England

With all the great weather we've been having, I have picked one of England's finest sparkling wines as July's wine choice. Raimes is a fairly young, family-owned vineyard located in the South Downs, Hampshire. The South Downs area is the UK's most sought-after region for planting classic Champagne varieties such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier because it shares very similar chalk soils to that of Champagne's finest plots.

The Raimes Classic, released this year, is a combo of all three of those noble Champagne varieties. It's an elegant, lively blend bursting with stone fruits, lemon and cream. Gorgeous when served chilled on its own, with a punnet of English strawberries and cream, or at a party with salmon canapes. 

English wine has never been better, so if you're going to give it a try then go for a bottle of Raimes while it's on offer. You won't regret it.
