Jane Austen exhibition is coming to Bath

No. 1 Royal Crescent is set to host a Jane Austen exhibition celebrating 250 years since her birth.

The exhibition, titled 'The Most Tiresome Place in the World', will explore Austen’s time in Bath and her complicated relationship with the city.

Austen lived in Bath from 1801 to 1806 and used the city as inspiration for her novels Persuasion and Northanger Abbey.

The exhibition aims to bring Austen's time in Bath to life with letters, first editions of novels and the only manuscript she wrote in Bath which describes her conflicting feelings towards the city.

This exhibition is running from Saturday 5th July until Sunday 2nd November makes up part of The Royal Crescent’s celebrations for the annual Jane Austen festival.

Other unmissable events at the museum include guided immersive Jane Austen tours in several languages, an afternoon tea event, a talk from the author Jessica Bull who wrote Miss Austen Investigates and a lecture from one of the leading academics on Austen Professor Kathryn Sutherland.

This is set to be an incredible celebration of one of Britain's greatest authors and a chance to learn more about Bath’s history in the nation's literary contributions so don’t miss out!
