Home Education Special – Behind the Scenes at The Roman Baths

A home education workshop offering a behind-the-scenes look at museum care and conservation at the Roman Baths, including object handling and practical collection-care activities.

This workshop for home-educated learners explores what happens behind the scenes in a museum. Participants meet a museum professional and discover how the Roman Baths collection is cared for and conserved.

What to expect:

• Learn about collection management and materials used to pack and protect objects
• Practise wrapping objects securely
• Discover how pests and environmental conditions are managed to preserve collections
• Handle real objects and test skills in spotting originals versus replicas

This session is designed for young adults, teenagers and home-educated learners at secondary level. Accompanying adults are welcome to attend if booked; non-participating siblings are not suitable due to the hands-on format.
