Your Total Guide To lifestyle

2013 Hair Trends

We've rounded up all of the hottest hair trends of 2013 straight from the runway. So if you're looking for some instant inspiration our easy-to-follow guide should help!

Low Ponytails

A true classic that never goes out of fashion, the ponytail has been reinterpreted once again. During 2012 we saw women embracing some seriously high hair but that’s all about to change in the New Year as one of the hottest hair trends for 2013 is the low ponytail. Sitting low towards the nape of the neck this style is surprisingly versatile, so whether you choose to wear it loose and messy or neat and tight you’ll be able to tailor the look to suit your style perfectly.

Half Tuck Hairstyle

Mixing it up just enough to keep things interesting; the idea couldn’t be simpler. Instead of tucking your hair fully behind your ears, leave some strands of hair behind so your ears are just visible. We’d recommend making a statement by adding some quirky accessories for a striking edgy look. Get it right and ooze 1960’s glamour like Sienna Miller, get it wrong and look like an extra from The Hobbit.

Bed Head Hair

We adore this trend! Messy bed hair is oh so simple to create and it really is as easy as rolling out of bed and looking fabulous in minutes. Perhaps not advisable for the office dweller needing to look sharp and organised but perfect for the easy going girl about town who loves to experiment and have fun with her style. Remember though girls think sexy rock’n’roll chic not I’ve just woken up and didn’t have time to do my hair.

Plaits and Braids

Hair braiding is going to be huge this spring/summer and it’s a look that we’ve seen lots of on the runway towards the trail end of 2012. It’s not all about neat sleek braids though; celebrities like Blake Lively and Lauren Conrad love to mix it up with a messy plait or too. So for that perfect laid back bohemian look, experiment with braids swept across the crown of your hair, side braided hairstyles and even individual braided hairstyles.

The Bun

Anything goes! From low or high styles, to perfectly pristine or stylishly messy the bun really does look like it’s here to say. A trend that has been massive throughout 2012 we don’t know how we could live without it! Our top tip to ensure a sleek finish is to pull your hair into a ponytail before you secure your bun, combing any lumps or bumps towards the hair-band. This way you’ll ensure any unsightly ends are hidden.
