13 Fashion Essentials for 2013

All of the essential trends of 2013 brought to you by over very own TGtB fashion expert Stephanie Large.

Monochrome

Black and white is back with a passion for 2013, any print with any style will work as long as you stick with these colours. This trend is super easy to work into your wardrobe, allowing you to look effortlessly fashionable and wonderfully stylish.

Mini Bags

No bucket bags and satchels this year, the smaller the better. Of course, not as practical, but this is fashion darling.

Square Kitten Heels

It is hard to know what heel size to go for from year to year, platforms were back in a huge way in 2012 as were “flatforms” with the return of creepers. This year we’re sticking right in the middle. The perfect size to walk, dance and shop in. Make it a few inches tall and square in shape, all your friends will be jealous of your amazing footwear.

Aztec

Aztec is one of the trends sticking around for the next year...yay! We can recycle some clothes.

Baroque

Black and gold will be perfect for the post Christmas partying. Making a statement with one item of baroque will make you stand out and look utterly amazing. Gorgeous prints in gorgeous colours.

Disney

Especially Minnie Mouse, the Girlfriend of the most famous mouse around was huge at London Fashion week. Polka dots and bows allow this trend to be wearable and super pretty for spring time.

“Lady Like”

I am personally really excited about this fashion for the year. It’s a very put together and elegant, pretty blouses and pencil skirts will help this look come together.

Velvet

Also another trend that is coming through from 2012, it also is seen a lot with the 90’s throw back trend that also was big on the cat walks. Velvet dresses, blazers or shorts would be perfect. Stick with the green, wine & black colours before the weather starts to change (if it ever does!)

Hair Accessories

I think hair is becoming bigger and better on the catwalk each year, hair accessories this year are in the form of animal ears and floral headbands. Don’t think however, you can get away with your butterfly festival crowns; these just aren’t cutting it any more.

Masculine Tailoring

Yes, you’re reading right, not only is lady like fashion on trend, but so is masculine tailoring. Keep up with your blazers, ankle grazer piped trousers and bow ties. A great trend for the guys too, get them looking smart and tailored and you’ll be doing it right.

Tartan

Scottish? No? It doesn’t matter to us! Add some tartan flare with a scarf or throw back to the 90’s again with a skirt or bow tie.

Sporty Dresses

It was always on the cards to progress forward from the favourite “Skater Dress”. These flirty a-line, shoulder flashing dresses are perfect for every event. Add high-heeled sandals for a night out, or high top trainers for a laid back feel.

1960’s

Nicely in hand with the Monochrome trend, the 60’s are back. Think bold patterned dresses, breakfast at tiffany’s, lots of print & clashing patterns. Add a beehive or pixie cut and you’ll be looking fashionable and effortlessly perfect.
