REVIEW: Overnight Stay at DoubleTree Hilton Bath City

Having stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton Bath City previously we were delighted to return following on from the hotel's newly extensive refurbishment costing over £8million.

The hotel has been completely renovated to become the city's biggest hotel with 176 bedrooms. The hotel is renowned for its fabulous location with all the famous sites, hidden Bath gems, nightlife, and shopping in Bath within easy walking distance. We parked easily under the hotel in The Pavilion Car Park but public transport located nearby making the hotel easily accessible. 

On entering the hotel, it is stunning, immaculately clean, and sparklingly new. Such careful attention has clearly been taken with the decor which cleverly separates the different areas each with its own unique feel from the reception, event space, coffee shop, restaurant, cocktail bar, and fabulous Secret Garden with outside seating. Yet it fits together and flows perfectly. It really is very impressive.

Sanitation and space have been taken very seriously and all Covid measures are in place which gives a feeling of reassurance. 

We were greeted at reception by friendly and helpful staff who talked us through our stay and the amenities on offer with a wonderfully warm welcome and the famously still warm signature cookies! The staff could not have been more helpful and knowledgeable offering extensive advice on the city and the lovely addition of a welcome gift card offering special offers from a range of Bath businesses.

Our family room that sleeps 4 was spacious and offered an enormous king size bed and a sofa bed for our daughter and offered all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay:

• Espresso machine
• Kettle
• Complimentary WiFi
• 49-inch HDTV

Seating area with sofa, hairdryer, iron/ironing board, safe and Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries. The rooms are a perfect mix of modern elegance and comfort and ideal for business or leisure. 

The breathtaking view from the room overlooked the River Avon and is the perfect vantage point of the beautiful city.

We could choose from the many options for lunch of “Grab and Go” or in room dining but we decided to lunch in the newly refurbished Emma's restaurant which offers stunning views of The Putney Bridge and flowing river, with outdoor seating for the warmer months and the fabulous Secret Garden area. It really is a lovely bar and dining area with a relaxed atmosphere and is open to both residents and non-residents alike.

Emma's restaurant offers a carefully thought-out extensive menu suitable to all tastes and dietary requirements. We opted for a Sharing Plate Fish Platter and sides of Mac & Cheese and thick cut chips. It was really satisfying, presented beautifully and tasted divine. The staff were efficient and friendly. An enjoyable feel and experience which I would highly recommend. 

After a busy day in the city enjoying the sites we couldn't wait to return to our comfy room, soak in the deep bath and had the most amazing sleep in the truly sumptuous beds. Absolutely perfection!

After a lovely peaceful lie in assisted by the blackout curtains, we made our way downstairs. Our room rate included a leisurely breakfast which consisted of a wonderful unlimited choice of full English, selection of pastries, fruit, yogurt, Cereal, and beverages. An excellent range, fresh and satisfying.

Wonderful hospitality and a real memorable experience in a truly magnificent hotel. Doubletree by Hilton Bath City you are magnificent.
