Opportunity to Comment on Draft Placemaking Plan
Bath & North East Somerset Council is asking the public for their opinions on the Draft Placemaking Plan.
Councillor Liz Richardson (Conservative, Chew Valley North), Cabinet Member for Homes & Planning, said: “This is an important document that sets out a vision for how and where there will be development in future years, whilst maintaining the character of the area.
“It will complement the adopted Core Strategy by providing a set of detailed planning policies and site allocations across Bath and North East Somerset. Once it is adopted, the Placemaking Plan, together with the Core Strategy, will be used for determining planning applications in our area up to 2029.”
The consultation period runs from December 16, 2015, to February 3, 2016. This is a more formal stage and people are being invited to comment on whether the Draft Plan has been prepared in accordance with legal requirements and whether it is ‘sound’. Previous public consultations have already helped to inform the content of the plan.
Further information and guidance on how to comment on the Draft Placemaking Plan and other supporting documents can be found at www.bathnes.gov.uk/placemakingplan.
The same information will be available in all libraries in Bath & North East Somerset and the Council’s main offices: the One Stop Shop, Lewis House, Bath; The Hollies Midsomer Norton and Civic Centre One Stop Shop, Keynsham.
At the end of the consultation the Council will send the Draft Placemaking Plan and all the comments received for Examination by the Secretary of State in the Spring 2016. It is anticipated that the Placemaking Plan will be adopted at the end of 2016.
