Bath City takeover could be

A successful takeover of Bath City Football Club by the Supporters could be "incredibly empowering" to the city, according to Sally Harris - the Community and Social Impact Activist of the Big Bath City Bid.

The Big Bath City Bid are aiming to raise £300,000 by September 28 to gain a majority share in Bath City Football Club.

As of September 13, they have raised over £184,000 and need a further £110,000 in the final two weeks.

Sally Harris stated that a takeover by the Bid team could be massive for the city of Bath.

"It is hugely, hugely important (the club is ran by the supporters)", she said.

"I think it would be absolutely transformative, not just for the club, but for the local community. I think it is going to be incredibly empowering.

"There is so much scope for Bath City Football Club to do great things in the community in terms of Bath City, but also more specifically in Twerton as it is the area that has a lot of social deprivation.

"I think people see Bath as this fantastic, beautiful, wealthy city, which in so many ways it is, but you also have a lot of people living in areas like Twerton who are really overlooked.

"This football club, if community-owned, could have huge scope to bring a lot of community benefit. We want to be running schemes for disadvantaged groups, getting older people back into exercise, giving younger people something to do over the holidays so it is hugely important as there is so much good that can be done."
