Sir Bradley Wiggins confirmed for Tour of Britain

Sir Bradley Wiggins has become the latest big name of cycling to be announced as a rider for the forthcoming Tour of Britain.

The Tour of Britain, that runs from September 4-11 and runs through Bath on the eighth for the first time, will also feature the likes of Mark Cavendish and Owain Doull.

Wiggins, who won the Tour De France and Olympic gold in 2012, will ride in his own team (Wiggins) along with Doull and Jonathan Dibben with the remaining three members of the team set to be announced in the near future.

Britain's most famous sideburns also won gold in the Rio Olympics and was crowned the overall winner of the Tour of Britain in 2014.

Tour of Britain Race Director commented: "We are delighted to be welcoming two of our Olympic Champions to the Tour of Britain just three weeks after their success in Rio.

"As a former winner of the Tour of Britain it is always a pleasure to welcome Sir Bradley Wiggins back to Britain's biggest race, while Owain Doull was the star of the 2015 tour, showing he has a very bright future ahead of him."
