Review: No.15 Great Pulteney Working Lunch

When it comes to holding a business event in Bath, we know that there are plenty of venues to choose from, but when Total Bath decided to have a team meeting out of the office, we headed for the gorgeous No.15 Great Pulteney!

The new hotel served as the perfect backdrop for our team meeting. We wanted somewhere private, yet welcoming. Somewhere professional, yet beautiful. Somewhere, ideally, with a fantastic bar and food available! No.15 Great Pulteney had it all in abundance.

As we parked up outside, it’d be forgivable to miss No.15 among all the other grand, historic buildings on Great Pulteney Street. Walking down the vast stone street makes you feel like you’re venturing in to the very heart of our ancient city. Luckily, the contemporary-yet-sympathetic signage outside the hotel was a welcome marker for our destination. We slipped inside the grand foyer where we were greeted by a helpful member of staff.

As soon as you walk through the tall double doors at No.15, the décor hits you. There are hundreds, possibly thousands of curiosities displayed in every nook and cranny of this delightful hotel, but it has been done in such a way that means it stays clean, crisp, spacious and inviting. A real triumph for the owners and team. We found ourselves all instantly reaching for our phones to take photos, but we didn’t know what to capture first!

We were shown to The Pulteney Room, which had lovely views of the rest of the iconic street through the enormous sash windows. The room had plenty of space for up to 18 people round their vast boardroom table. At one end, hidden away in a grand piece of antique furniture, was the state-of-the-art AV equipment we used to run out meeting. We are a digital company after all!

There were individual writing mats with a pencil at each seat and high-end glassware for our bottled mineral water, which was brought in by the affable staff. We were offered teas and coffees and began our meeting.

Once we were through with our super-productive meeting, we were all clamouring for a spot of lunch. It’s no accident that we chose a meeting venue with such a fantastic food offering, which we ordered ahead of time. We were shown down to our table at Cafe 15 and were served a delicious two-course lunch. The cafe itself is under ground level and is decorated with more curios, this time along the theme of an apothecary or historic chemist. There were a myriad of tiny bottles full of ancient lotions and potions displayed high up on immaculately kept shelving.

To start off we were treated to a wonderful Slow Roasted Pork Belly with Crackling, with what I am happy to go on record as saying was the best mashed potato I’ve ever eaten in my life! The Pommery Mustard Mash was perfectly creamy and really complimented the pork.

To finish we enjoyed a beautifully rich and tasty Salted Caramel Chocolate Brownie with caramel sauce, topped with cream and pistachio, served with Marshfield honeycomb ice cream. Everything had a carefully balanced mixture of sweetness and richness, and was an real crowd pleaser. The whole team agreed that it was the PERFECT way to finish off an afternoon out of the office.

We were all so impressed with No.15; from the staff to the facilities to the beautiful food. The one thing that stands out about this venue is the incredible care and attention to detail that has gone in to absolutely every aspect of what they do. For this reason, we’ll happily recommend No.15 Great Pulteney to friends and clients alike, whether for business or pleasure.
