Bath in Fashion Unveils 2015 Programme
Bath in Fashion's 2015 line-up is as chic as ever.
Now into its sixth year, this event which is managed and funded by the Bath BID in partnership with Bath Tourism Plus is created as collaboration by Bath businesses to put the city in the fashion spotlight.
Retailers in Bath always rise to the occasion with exciting and imaginative events. Gieves and Hawkes are staging an event focused on Men’s Style; Anthropologie will host a Royal School of Needlework workshop in-store; and the Fabulous upcycling project creates new jewellery from old, raising money for charity in the process.
Andrew Cooper, Chief Executive of the Bath BID Company, said: “Bath in Fashion offers businesses across the city the opportunity to showcase the season’s fashion both on the catwalk and with their own creative in-store events and promotions.” New for 2015, The Fashion Trail maps participating retailers highlighting the best of Bath’s fashion and accessory scene and Bath Life Fashion’s Night Out and other shopping events bring a real buzz onto the streets of Bath.
The glittering Assembly Rooms will also be HQ for Bath in Fashion’s 2015 runway shows produced by John Walford from London Fashion Week with top stylist Rebekah Roy. London make up specialists AOFM will handle make up for the shows whilst local hair salon Artizan will work their magic once again.
The city will once again welcomes top fashion writers like Susannah Frankel, Fashion Director of Grazia and Tim Blanks editor at large of Style.com who will discuss Savage Beauty; Alexander McQueen to co-incide with the must-see exhibition at the V&A about the work of this extraordinary designer. Bath hopes to welcome back Claudia Croft, Fashion Editor of Sunday Times Style, special guest in 2014 who wrote “Bath is different …Bath in Fashion is in a league of its own”.
Bath based fashion writer, Iain R Webb digs deep into his personal archive to research Invitation Strictly Personal is his new book which he will discuss with Lou Stoppard of Show Studio. Invitation Strictly Personal presents a unique collection of 300 fashion show invitations from all four fashion capitals - New York, London, Milan and Paris.
Bath in Fashion 2015 has plans for another community crochet project led by local designer maker Emma Leith in aid of Kids Company, the charity which operates in Bristol as well as carrying out its pioneering work with some of the most traumatised young people living in London, reaching 36,000 children a year with therapeutic care.
The Fashion Museum exhibition Georgians; Dress in Polite Society runs into 2015 showing 30 original 18th century outfits and ensembles from the museum’s world-class collection.Selvedge Magazine will be bringing a one day Fashion Fair to the American Museum.
Bath has been in fashion since its Georgian heyday, when it was a magnet for fashionable society; today Bath maintains a reputation for fashion and style with its world-renowned Fashion Museum; Bath Spa University’s award-winning fashion design course; and its thriving retail sector, with so many independent fashion boutiques retailing niche and designer labels alongside all the key high street brands.
